One-step immunochromatographic rapid test for the detection of Hepatitis B surface Antigen (HBsAg) in serum.
Hepatitis B is a liver potentially fatal infection caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV). It is a major worlwide health problem and is the most serious type of viral hepatitis. It can cause chronic liver disease and involves a high risk of death from cirrhosis and liver cancer.
Simple HB/Stick HB rapid test has been developed with the purpose of providing quick help in the diagnosis of Hepatitis B, by detection of HBsAg (surface antigen associated to Hepatitis B) in human serum.

Ideally, fresh and free of turbidity sera should be used. However, they can also be stored refrigerated (2-8°C) for up to 2 days and frozen (-20°C) for longer periods.
Serum that show turbidity, those that are highly hemolyzed and those that are highly lipemic. When using samples with these characteristics, the result should be interpreted with caution.
It is important to add the correct amount of sample. If it is less than the indicated amount, the chromatography may not be performed because not enough sample reaches the reaction zone. If it is higher, the reagent may be diluted and generate a weak signal.
The test time is 10 minutes. If the time is shorter, samples with an amount of analyte close to the detection limit of the test cannot be detected. If the reaction time is longer than indicated, the sensitivity will be altered and non-specific signals may appear.
